Delhi,relishing the advantage of winning the toss, tookthe game by 87 runs.Boosted by the elegant southpaw Goutham Gambhir(47), the Delhi team looked like forging a goodscore. However, they lost their way and werestruggling at 145 for 5. Fortunately for the hometeam, stumper P Chawla made a fighting 58 andsaved the home team the blushes. With all otherbatsmen chipping in, Delhi made 262/7 in theirallotted 50 overs.In response to Delhi’s big score, Haryana had noanswer. Although P Sehrawat made 58 at the top ofthe order, Haryana could manage only 175 all out.With all other batsmen failing to make much of acontribution, Haryana lost the first match oftheir limited overs challenge. Mediumpacer AmitBhandari with 2/29 and left arm spinner RahulSanghvi with 2/28 were the pick of the bowlers.
