Wolves fans annoyed by ‘obvious’ Nuno call

Many Wolves fans found themselves agreeing with Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson after he commented on Nuno Espirito Santo’s team selection during his side’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Southampton.

Speaking on Soccer Saturday (via Football Daily), the former Arsenal striker believed that the Black Country club had nothing to lose by going full strength in the FA Cup fifth round.

Nuno opted to go with a makeshift back three of Leander Dendoncker, Romain Saiss and Max Kilman in front of John Ruddy, resting goalkeeper Rui Patricio and captain Conor Coady in the process.

Wolves were comfortably beaten on the night and they only created one big chance during the 90 minutes and only had one shot on target (Fotmob).

Unsurprisingly, supporters overwhelmingly agreed with Merson, who believed that it was a wasted opportunity and that Nuno’s decision took away the chance of a solid FA Cup run.
